Also the article screams only one side of the story. Given the ‘new workers’ as they call ‘digital natives’ who are the younger kin of the ones who are trying to block the Internet usage. Personally I use my IM and other tools to get information for term papers as well as ideas and peer reviews, given this the bad side on this is if you don’t know what you are doing or just doing it to kill time and not what you are suppose to do it should be reprimanded.

The good and the bad of this so-called security
The good
*You gain bandwidth
*You know that the users on your roster are not causing a threat (this is also evasive if you have the know how and the right tools)
*The users re not looking at something that will be there only to kill time rather than doing their work.

The Bad
*Those who actually use the net and the tools on it as research (like me) are limited to what and whom they can turn to. (In example: I use a chat client called mIRC at home… and with the proper tools it is as safe as turning your computer on installing all the necessities and going online… but I use it and some scripts that I have ether scripted or found to do research like one I have is a google search that will redirect you to the most ideal site. Also I use some sort of IM to ask my peers of what they think after I make a rough draft… if they like it they will tell me instantly instead of waiting for a email which also has been ban on some of these servers)
*It limits sites of interest when it comes to something needed… for instance if your doing research for you CEO about how something works and you can’t get through the company firewall you can’t do your job.
*Like the article says… ‘Arrigo said employers needed to rethink their assumptions about Internet usage. “For a lot of people now, instant messaging is a legitimate work tool that allows quick communication between colleagues, avoiding voicemail-tag and long distance charges, yet many companies block instant messaging completely.”’ (There are ways to keep IM’s safe and reliable out there)

As I said its only one side of the story given by one person, I think companies should look at the ideals of both their needs and their ‘new employees’ or risk losing a great deal of good workers. It relates to the topic cause it deals with security vs. working and retrieving information

http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,71636-0.html?tw=wn_index_7

Bob Dylan: Technology Sucks

This article caught my eye due to a few of my friends would literally agree… and they are in the music business. What this article is saying is this, I sound better in the studio than on your CD player why not make me an mp3 and send me over the net I will sound better. At least that is what I got from it. Also I get from it that there should be a proper way of using these programs to transfer songs …It is not pirating if you preview one song and go buy the album. If it were done that way maybe the artists would not bicker about all these sharing programs… Bob Dylan has learned that if the sound cant sound good then why sell it… why sell it anyways its entertainment its art, it should be free. I have no personal opinion on this cause this can become very controversial… one user on bear share can DL one song like Iced Earth – Wolf and go out and hunt for the album it came from like The blessed and the damned… where another can DL the same and also DL the whole album. Another scenario is a person likes one song from a friend’s CD but don’t want to buy the CD for one song and would rather DL the song and listen to it.

It relates to the topic of Internet studies because of it being that Peer-to-Peer is wide ranged and it could be better for both the Dl’s user, and the artist. Also it controversies are against the CD not the file share program… "You listen to these modern records, they're atrocious, they have sound all over them," he added. "There's no definition of nothing, no vocal, no nothing, just like ... static." ~Dylan.

Case Study #4

MEMO

To: The Boss
From: Bryan Arnold
CC:..::NONE::..:
Date: Aug. 21st, 2006
Subject: FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

1) FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, what it is the Protocol for transferring files to and from the Internet. Lets say Http is your driver and passenger doors, and Ftp is your trunk… you want to show someone the new building (site) you would use the HTTP URL to get them there… where as FTP would be used to show the new PS3 game(file) in your briefcase that’s in your trunk for safe keeping and let him have the extra copy you didn’t know you bought.

3) An FTP client allows you to connect to an FTP server, where an FTP server is where all the information is stored.

4) Ok pertaining to Upload and Download, Upload is like you transfer something from your computer to a server for future downloading. I'm a night owl!

:note to self make fun of boring reading assignment:
Ok, the first :ahem: google news asignment I will wright or type ...somethign along those lines is somthing very serious Malware. from the artical 80% of large and medium usnesses are being hit. What is malware well from what I read in a Pc mag in the Diag room and this site is; its a virus that not only redirects users to a 'clone' site but also sends 'spam' to the person targeted. It will send a fake email offering this and that at the price or what not ...this includes bank sites as well.

"Virus attacks are much more aggressive and sophisticated than in the past, with zombies distributing rapid, broadly based attacks, with multiple variations of each virus," said Michael Osterman, principal of the research firm. "The best way for companies to avoid being hit is to implement a proactive virus protection solution that does not rely on signatures."

From what Pc Helth says as well as the site says, there is no fix as of yet. The newer malware uses a difrent kind of signiture from any other virus.

Next is something good, the hands free email.
Only in Cannida (sorry Mell had to) would this be thought up, well that can be good, or bad. Take your pick. Anyways back to the topic, John Reynolds, VP of business development for Waterloo-based Intelligent Mechatronic Systems Inc has made a device to replace emailing while driving... Honestly I didn't think it to be possible yet with the tech coming out now its probable. The blackberry like the cell phone has attacked the drivers seat :note to self make a prody pic of the blackberry in a car... perferably convertible: and they have devised a way to kick the habbit of emailing while driving. It's called the iLane, a box that uses voice to do its job... hey sounds good ...what bout privicy though. Ok, I gota stop doing this back on subject, it will read you your email as well as send a voice to text email OR save the email a s a sound file and send out the email. Now the company knows it wont eliminate the problem but help with saffer practices.

google news : "While the advent of hands-free devices have helped drivers keep their hands free to drive, other studies suggest it doesn't make a difference. Researchers at the University of Utah found that drivers who multitask can be as dangerous as drunk drivers"

Yes, it would be ideal if people didn't do it," Reynolds said. "But people will do it no matter what. Our aim is to make it as safe as possible."

I think we got a winner here!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hells-paridice.blogspot.com/2006/07/ay-im-night-owl.html' title='Ðay? group called DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), and it was designed for the military for packet sending and nuclear defense.

3) It expands far more than the WWW or world wide web, also it can expand our business from people having to come to the store to also going online at their homes and ordering our products, a few of many things that has come to be are as follows;

o Keep logs of sales

o Expand the business worldwide

o Provide customer support

4) The business cycle of the internet has been happening since the 90’s ,Corey Rudl of E-commerce (in 1994 at the time he had only $25 and has expanded it to millions), Amazon, and E-Bay are only a few that were the pioneers.

I was grateful to explain these techniques you Sir, it let me research more knowledge as well as help your business.
<img
